Closing Your Mine Card

Learn how to close your Mine Card and line of credit, and how it can affect your credit score.

How to close your Mine Card

We get it – Mine isn't for everyone. To close your card and the line of credit attached to it:

  1. Make sure your balance is paid off in full

  2. Send a message to customer support in the Mine app, or email [email protected] saying that you'd like to close your account.

It's as simple as that!

Please note that once you've closed your card, you are not able to reopen it under any circumstances.

Automatic closures

If you signed up for a Mine Membership before applying for a Mine Card, your card will be closed once your current Membership term expires (if you've disabled auto-renew on your Membership subscription in the app).

You can renew your Membership in the app at any time before it expires. To avoid having to remember to renew your Membership each cycle, you can set your Mine Membership to renew automatically in the app.

If you had a Mine (Fizz) Card before September 2024 and later signed up for a Membership, then cancelling your Mine Membership won't have an effect on your Mine Card.

Credit effects

It's important to note that closing a line of credit can have a negative, but usually temporary, impact on your credit score (particularly if Mine is your first line of credit), because doing so can decrease the average age of your credit accounts. The impact will vary based on factors like your credit utilization, your average account age, and your credit mix.

However, Mine does not delete the credit history you've built up while you've had the card, so even if you do choose to close your Mine Card, your credit report should still show your repayment history with Mine.
